Yes! We are always happy to welcome new patients to Gawler Dental Clinic. Whether you need a routine check-up, have a dental concern, or are looking for a new family dentist, our friendly team is here to help.
Contact us today to book your first appointment.
The cost of dental treatment can vary depending on your individual needs and the treatment required. Following your examination, your dentist will discuss any recommended treatment with you and provide an estimate of the associated costs.
We will always ensure you are informed of the cost before proceeding with treatment, so you can make an informed decision about your dental care.
What happens at your first appointment will depend on whether you are visiting us for a dental emergency or a routine check-up.
If you are experiencing a dental emergency, our priority is to relieve your pain and make you as comfortable as possible. We may then recommend a follow-up appointment to complete any necessary treatment and help prevent future dental problems.
For a routine dental appointment, we will carry out a thorough examination of your teeth, gums, supporting bone and soft tissues. We may also recommend dental X-rays, typically every two years, to help detect decay and other issues that may not be noticeable during a visual examination.
We accept all approved private health funds. We are also preferred providers for Health Partners, Defence Health and Bupa.
The rebate you receive will depend on your individual health fund and level of cover. We recommend checking with your health fund to confirm your level of benefits prior to treatment.
We offer a range of convenient payment options, including HICAPS, EFTPOS, cash and direct bank transfer.
If you have private health insurance, we can process your eligible rebate through HICAPS at the time of your appointment, with you simply paying any remaining balance.
Sorry, we do not accept Amex or Diners club cards.
Absolutely. Dental anxiety is very common, and our caring and experienced dentists and staff regularly support patients who feel nervous or anxious about visiting the dentist.
We will take the time to listen to your concerns, explain your treatment and work with you to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Where appropriate, we can discuss options to help manage anxiety and ensure you receive the care you need.
For patients with significant dental anxiety or those requiring more complex treatment, we can also arrange a referral to a specialist who provides sleep dentistry.
Please let us know if you are feeling anxious when booking your appointment so we can provide the appropriate support and allow extra time if needed.
Emergency Dental Care
Yes. We understand that dental emergencies can happen unexpectedly and often require prompt attention. We aim to reserve appointments each day to accommodate emergency dental needs whenever possible. Call the practice at 8am to have the best chance of getting in on the day.
If you are experiencing dental pain, have suffered a dental injury or have another urgent dental concern, please contact our friendly team as soon as possible so we can assist you.
If you are experiencing toothache, don’t ignore it. The longer a dental problem is left untreated, the more serious and potentially more painful it can become.
Contact us as soon as possible so we can assess the cause of your toothache and provide appropriate treatment. We aim to reserve appointments available each day for dental emergencies and will do our best to see you as soon as possible.
If you or your child knocks out a permanent tooth, it is important to act quickly. The sooner the tooth is treated, the greater the chance of successfully saving it.
If possible, carefully pick up the tooth by the crown (the part you normally see), avoiding touching the root. If the tooth is dirty, gently rinse it with milk and, if possible, place it back into the socket.
If you cannot place the tooth back in the socket, keep it moist by storing it in milk or having the person hold it carefully inside their cheek, if appropriate. Do not store it in water or wrap the tooth in tissue or allow it to dry out.
Contact us immediately so we can arrange an emergency appointment.
Please note: Baby teeth should not be replanted.
Facial swelling associated with a toothache can be a sign of a dental infection and should not be ignored. Contact us as soon as possible so we can assess the problem and provide appropriate treatment.
If the swelling is severe, spreading rapidly, or you are experiencing difficulty breathing or swallowing, seek urgent medical attention immediately.
General Dentistry
Yes! We welcome children of all ages at Gawler Dental Clinic. All of our dentists are experienced in treating children and aim to make every visit as comfortable and positive as possible.
We also have an Oral Health Therapist, Phoebe Dredge, who has a special interest in children’s dentistry. Having completed her Bachelor of Oral Health, Phoebe enjoys helping children feel at ease while providing gentle, personalised dental care and encouraging good oral health habits from an early age.
There are several options available for replacing missing teeth, depending on the number of teeth missing, their location, the condition of the surrounding teeth and underlying bone, and your individual needs.
At Gawler Dental Clinic, we offer a range of tooth replacement options, including:
Dental implants
Implant-retained dentures
Removable appliances, such as partial or full dentures
Fixed tooth replacement options, such as dental bridges
Your dentist can discuss the most suitable options for you and develop a treatment plan based on your individual circumstances.
Yes, we offer same-day denture repairs whenever possible. We understand that a broken or damaged denture can be inconvenient, uncomfortable and sometimes embarrassing, so we will do our best to have your denture repaired and returned to you as quickly as possible.
Please contact our team to discuss your repair and arrange an appointment.
Yes, in many cases we can offer same-day crowns using advanced CAD/CAM technology and high-quality porcelain. Our CEREC milling machine allows us to design and create your custom-made crown on site. These are booked after the tooth has been assessed.
Preventive Dentistry
We believe that prevention is better than cure. Regular dental check-ups are an important part of maintaining a healthy mouth and can help identify potential problems before they become more serious and require more extensive treatment.
For most people, we recommend a dental check-up every six months. However, we take a holistic approach to dental care, considering your individual oral health needs and overall circumstances when recommending how often you should attend.
Your dentist will work with you to develop a personalised preventive care plan and recommend a recall interval that is most appropriate for you.
Teeth Whitening
Yes, we offer professional take-home teeth whitening using custom-made trays designed specifically for your teeth.
Your dentist will assess your suitability for whitening and provide you with instructions on how to safely and effectively use the whitening treatment at home.
